“Duck Dive Night”. Original 10″x 30″ acrylic painting on black board by Bart Saric.
Part of a night surf series, “Duck Dive Night” is a painted depiction of an acquired advancement/survival move invented by watermen and women, originally created by ducks. The action is done in open water, demonstrated here by an experienced surfer during a heavy swell surging in exotic waters. The subject times his survival ‘duck dive’ in the middle of a shallow, below sea level, warble from a powerful and hollow wave breaking in front of him. His eyes wide open like high-beam head lights in the night. A healthy deep breath and a split second of decision making to ensure some type of success of making it from the bottom of the wave’s crest, through the back, and out on to the top of the surface again. Prepared to most likely do it again, within seconds. Those who know this scenario and sensation, know it from experience only. It is something only one can learn from practice and commitment.
The original painting and p.o.v. come from the artists personal experiences in the water as a surfer and waterman of over 44 + years. Painted with acrylic on black ‘foam-core’ board and mounted onto a hard Masonite composite. This unique piece makes any exotic, organic, or modern room/area light up with mystery, wonder and action. Comes with hand written artists description on the back mount.
